Why Hoi Polloi?
I started blogging in May 2004. The tectonic plates were shifting and it seemed like a good experiment. Top-down corporate communications was losing ground to the hoi polloi –Greek for that derisive term the masses.
Ten years before that, the hoi polloi were sitting ducks –targets! They had no voice. Today the hoi polloi have more respectable titles –smart mobs, tribes, citizen journalists. They tell better stories, have deeper connections, speak up and talk back.
Here at the HoiPolloiReport, I keep tabs on what goes on in this brave new world. Particularly in three areas I am passionate about: Marketing, PR and Media.
